Luka Bloom opened the Tracton Arts Festival in 2017 and we are delighted to have him back as a closing act for this year's TRACTON MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL!

The very embodiment of the folk singer, Luka Bloom has that deep sense of social justice with an uncanny ability to distil contemporary life into the pithiest and most alluring combinations of lyrics and melody lines. Last year’s album, Refuge, put a finger on the fractured nature of so much of what’s happening in our world today, from homelessness to war to climate change. His voice is still as open and honest as it was over 30 years ago, and his guitar finds chord combinations that are all his own. Passion, playfulness and pause for thought: a hearty combination in any gig. Siobhan Long, Irish Times. March 2018.

With each successive album, Luka Bloom digs deeper and gazes wider… he is on top form.

– The Irish Times **** 2016 Review of 'Frugalisto'

With a poet's heart and a rockster's soul, Luka Bloom is regarded as one of Ireland's most respected contemporary folk artists, having produced over 20 albums since the 1970s, Bloom continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do. A master interpreter, Bloom has continued to balance original songs with reinventions of tunes by a diverse range of songwriters. Like many who write songs, Luka's orchestra of choice is the guitar. What makes his career a little different is his constant search for a new voice within the guitar. The guitar is the landscape on which the song is created, and he is forever probing that landscape for new inspiration. No effects, no gadgets. Time, effort and a whole lot of love bring forth new voicings within the instrument, and bit by bit, the songs come to life. And eventually they fly, bringing Luka with them to be heard

in Byron Bay, San Francisco, Hamburg, or even Doolin. Almost 40 years since recording his first album, we welcome Luka Bloom back to The Inkwell Theatre once more!
