Create Event

Event Organiser Tips

We want you to get the best out of our platform so we've made this handy guide to help you set up great looking events that will engage your audience from the get go!

Let's go through the Create Event form.

Once you click this your are out of the gates! Let's look at this section by section.

1. Event details

- Event name

Make this concise and to the point. For example if you are organising a music event used the name of the band or act as your event name eg. The Rolling Stones - that's your event name right there!

- Event image

The best size to use here is an image of 1000px X 580px and up to 2mb works well. No matter what size image you upload the image editor will let you crop to the display size. To the right of the image editor you will see four thumbnails of how your image will look on various parts of the site.

Also images without text generally work better than ones with text. We display event image + event name + date + venue name on the main home banners and event image, name, date, venue, city, event type and topic in the event listings. On your Event Page we show all the details you enter in the Create Event form. Of course you may upload whatever image takes your fancy, text or no text.

- Event url

This is the website address of your event. You unique event url is created from your event name eg. The Rolling Stones event url will be uticket.ie/event/the-rolling-stones . You can change this url in the Web URL field (best practice to get the most out of search engines is to use a dash to create spaces in the name. Of course you can make it what ever you like but that's our advise)

- Event videos

Copy and paste your video links into this field. Want to add more? Click Add Another Video. You can add as many as you like or none at all :(

- Location

Enter your venue details here. The more information the better and be sure to click Add Venue Contact Details and fill out these fields, this is optional but it let's your audience get in touch with the venue if they have any questions such as for wheelchair access etc. Also you'll only need to do this once. Next time you enter the venue name these details will automatically be filled in for you. Once you have entered the venue address and details click Find Location and it will show you your venue on the map. Check the box to show map if you are that way inclined :)

- Venue image

This is the banner image that shows on the venue page. This only needs to be done once also.. Oh ya, the venue name you enter will be the end of your venue page url eg. Venue name = Cork Opera House, venue page url = uticket.ie/venue/cork-opera-house

- Date & Time

You must enter a Start date & time but End date & time is optional. If there is none just leave it blank. You can also enter other times to appear on the event page and event ticket by clicking Add other times eg. Door time, show time, first act on stage at and so on. Check the Display other times on event page box to display other times.

- Event details

Enter as much information, images, FAQ's here as possible. This tells your audience what is happeing and the more content the better online searches work to find your event. You can add a few sample FAQ's if you want by ticking the box.

- Organiser name

This is you! Enter your company, individual, organisation name here. This will be the end of your organiser page url also eg. Organiser name = All Tomorrows Parties, organiser page url = uticket.ie/organiser/all-tomorrows-parties

- Add Organiser Contact Details

It's a really good idea to fill out these fields, this is optional but it let's your audience get in touch with you if they have any questions (they will have questions). Also you'll only need to do this once. Next time you enter the organiser name these details will automatically be filled in for you.

- Organiser Profile Image

This is your logo. Best size is 580px X 580px but no matter what size image you upload the image editor will let you crop to the display size.

- Organiser Banner Image

This is the large header image that will appear behind your Organiser Profile Image. Best size is 1000px X 580px but again no matter what size image you upload the image editor will let you crop to the display size.

2. Create Tickets

- Adding a ticket

You must add at least one ticket to your event. This can be a free, paid or donation ticket. Add as many as you like, go mad!

Once you have entered the details of you ticket click Ticket Settings to select whether you want to pass the booking fee on to customer or absorb the fee, when your tickets will go on sale, when the sales will end and a few other little bits. When this is done you can add discount codes to your tickets if you would like to reward some certain customers. Discounts are applied at the checkout.

- Email note

Enter text here to display a note on the email your customers get when they purchase a ticket.

- Ticket note

Enter text here to display a note on your event tickets.

3. Additional Settings

- Age restriction

Tick the appropriate age restriction box for your event

- Listing privacy

If you would like your event to appear on uticket.ie then select public page. If you would prefer to keep your event private and send your url / link to the people you want to invite then select private page - only people with the link will be able to see and buy tickets for your event and it will not appear on uticket.ie. We will of course host your event on our server and you can view it via the link. All the same functions will work as on a public page here.

- Choose your Event type and topic.

- Add Tags to your event. This helps search engines find it online.

- If you want to show the number of remaining tickets on the event page then tick the box.

You are now complete. Yay!

You can Save as Draft and come back to edit later or Make Your Event Live.

Once you Make Your Event Live you are good to go!

You can copy your url and share your event from the Congratulations page.

Well done you!
